Frequently Asked Questions

After completing a master's degree in law, Maxime Renaudin took a new direction — that of wine — guided by a deep attachment to the Hérault region and a revelation through his contact with Laurent Vaillé at La Grange des Pères. In 2018, he established his eponymous estate across 5 hectares in Jonquières. This bold career change, driven by a consuming passion and training under one of the most respected winemakers in the Languedoc, is today celebrated by lovers of great wines from the South.

The harvest is done by hand and fully destemmed, allowing for rigorous selection of the grape clusters and preserving the integrity of the fruit. Each grape variety is vinified separately, thus respecting the individual expression of each variety before the final blend. The ageing, which lasts 24 months in barrels, is conducted with minimal intervention, using sulphur sparingly to allow the terroir to express itself. It is this artisanal rigour that distinguishes the cuvées of Maxime Renaudin among the most sought-after IGP Pays d'Hérault red wines.

With its intense aromas of dark fruits, blackcurrant, blackberry, spiced nuances and southern garrigue, this round, balanced and finely structured wine pairs well with game birds, herb-roasted lamb and aged cheeses. Thanks to its fine tannic structure and natural freshness, its ageing potential extends from 8 to 12 years, making it an ideal cellar wine for enthusiasts wishing to discover how a great Languedoc red evolves over time.

Carignan, grenache and syrah are rooted in this land that he cherishes and claims under the IGP Pays d'Hérault designation, a label chosen precisely to feature the name of this territory to which he is so attached. These emblematic Mediterranean grape varieties, cultivated on a clay-limestone terroir swept by the winds from the foothills of the Larzac, give the estate's wines their character that is at once sun-drenched, fresh and deeply rooted in the Languedoc.

Although he does not claim organic certification, Maxime applies environmentally friendly practices, without systemic products or herbicides. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming, without certification: the law student he once was refuses to be constrained by normative frameworks. A pragmatic and sincere approach, placing soil health and biodiversity at the heart of the work in the vineyard.

Introduced from the 2021 vintage, the Carignan cuvée showcases this emblematic Languedoc grape variety as a single varietal, vinified and aged for 24 months in barrels. It offers a pure and powerful expression of the Jonquières terroir, with concentrated aromas of red and black fruits combined with an elegant structure and persistent freshness. The assemblage cuvée, meanwhile, blends carignan, grenache and syrah in nearly equal proportions for a more open and rounded aromatic complexity. Two visions of the same terroir, for two distinct tasting experiences.

History of Domaine Maxime Renaudin

Founded in 2018 by Maxime Renaudin, a former environmental engineer and law graduate, Domaine Maxime Renaudin is the result of a bold career change and a consuming passion for wine. Trained alongside the legendary Laurent Vaillé, the emblematic winemaker of La Grange des Pères, Maxime transformed his 5 hectares of vines into an ambitious winemaking project. Despite his young age, he quickly established himself as a reference in the Languedoc, thanks to cuvées that combine finesse, complexity and authenticity. The sudden passing of his mentor in 2021 only strengthened his determination to honour this legacy, producing wines that capture the soul of the Jonquières terroir. Each bottle bears Maxime's name, a pledge of humility and personal connection with his work.

Terroirs and Vines of Domaine Maxime Renaudin

Nestled in the foothills of the Larzac, around the charming village of Jonquières, Domaine Maxime Renaudin benefits from an exceptional clay-limestone terroir, swept by the winds, which lends a unique freshness to its wines. The 5 hectares of vines, planted primarily with carignan, syrah and grenache, are cultivated with an environmentally respectful approach. Without the use of chemical products or herbicides, Maxime favours practices close to organic farming, adapting his care to each plot to reveal the personality of his terroir. This meticulous attention to the soils and biodiversity allows the emblematic grape varieties of the Languedoc to express themselves fully, yielding grapes of exceptional quality for rich and balanced wines.

Winemaking at Domaine Maxime Renaudin

At Domaine Maxime Renaudin, winemaking is an art steeped in precision and minimalism. Each grape variety — carignan, syrah and grenache — is harvested by hand and fully destemmed to preserve the purity of the aromas. Vinifications are carried out separately for each plot, in a micro-winery set up at the back of Maxime's garden, while awaiting the construction of a dedicated cellar. The ageing process, which lasts 24 months in barrels, is conducted with minimal intervention, using sulphur sparingly to allow the terroir to express itself. This meticulous process gives birth to voluptuous wines with intense aromas of dark fruits, spices and garrigue, with a fine structure and remarkable freshness, worthy of the great gastronomic wines of the Languedoc.

The Cuvées of Domaine Maxime Renaudin

Domaine Maxime Renaudin offers two exceptional cuvées, both under the IGP Pays d'Hérault appellation, reflecting the expertise and vision of this young winemaker.

Assemblage Cuvée

This signature red wine is a harmonious blend of 40% syrah, 40% carignan and 20% grenache. From a manually harvested and destemmed crop, each grape variety is vinified and aged separately for 24 months in barrels before a final blend just prior to bottling. This wine captivates with its intense profile of dark fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), its spiced notes and its touch of southern garrigue. Round, balanced and finely structured, it is ideal with feathered game, herb-roasted lamb or aged cheeses. With a limited production of 2,500 bottles per year, this cuvée is a true gem, to be cellared for 8 to 12 years for optimal enjoyment.

100% Carignan Cuvée

Introduced from the 2021 vintage, this cuvée pays tribute to carignan, the emblematic grape variety of the Languedoc. Vinified and aged for 24 months in barrels, it offers a pure and powerful expression of the Jonquières terroir. Its concentrated aromas of red and dark fruits, combined with an elegant structure and persistent freshness, make it a rare and sought-after wine. Available exclusively through select wine merchants, this micro-production is a hidden gem to discover for lovers of authentic wines.

Domaine Maxime Renaudin is an essential address for lovers of Languedoc wines in search of authenticity and excellence. With his rare and carefully crafted cuvées, Maxime Renaudin perpetuates his mentor's legacy while forging his own path, that of a passionate and visionary winemaker.
