To preserve the full quality of a bottle of Château Pichon Longueville Baron, ideal storage is between 12 and 14 °C, in a dark, humid environment at around 70%, and free from vibrations. The bottle should be stored on its side to keep the cork in contact with the wine. When serving, it is strongly recommended to decant the wine at least two hours in advance for younger vintages, to allow the tannins to soften and the aromas to develop. The ideal serving temperature is between 16 and 18 °C. For older vintages — the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s — a gentler and briefer decanting is preferable, so as not to dissipate the subtle tertiary aromas that give them all their charm.
