The Jura stands out for its rare grape varieties found almost nowhere else in France. For white wines, Savagnin reigns supreme: it is the variety that gives birth to the famous Vin Jaune. Chardonnay, locally known as "Melon d'Arbois", produces whites of beautiful mineral freshness. On the red side, Poulsard (or Ploussard) yields lightly coloured wines with silky tannins, while Trousseau brings structure and fruity character. Pinot Noir completes this palette, with expressions often more supple than those from neighbouring Burgundy.
