With an average age of over 30 years, the vines planted at a density of 6,000 plants per hectare are composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The estate does not produce white wines.

The Pavie Macquin estate vinifies two red wines: the first wine, named "Fine Wine de Pavie Macquin" and the second wine of the château: "Les Chênes de Macquin". The estate has experienced a remarkable rise since the late 1980s, with the arrival of Nicolas Thienpont at the helm of the vineyard. The Fine Wine of the estate, sourced from the finest plots, is renowned for being powerful and rich, relatively dense and full-bodied. The aromas are complex, ranging from dark fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry, and blueberry) to minerality, with notes of coffee and smoked oak. Its cellaring potential is 10 to 20 years for the greatest vintages. The second wine of Pavie Macquin offers a palate of red fruits with softer and less prominent tannins, as well as a slightly lighter colour. More accessible than the Fine Wine, it is best drunk within five years, or can improve in the cellar for up to 8 years depending on the vintage. The best vintages of Château Pavie Macquin are: 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2000, 1998, 1990, 1989. The wines offered by the estate represent very good value for money for a Premier Grand Cru Classé B.
