Wines from Château Pavie Décesse: purchase at the best price!

Sold in 1997 by the Valette family to Gérard Perse, Château Pavie Décesse is a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion. The estate is located 35 km east of the Bordeaux region (on the right bank of the Dordogne), next to the estates of Pavie, Pavie Macquin, and Troplong Mondot. The 3.65-hectare vineyard, with a density of 5,500 vines per hectare, is cultivated using sustainable farming practices on a clay-limestone plateau. The grape variety is predominantly Merlot (90%), complemented by Cabernet Franc. The vines average 43 years of age.

"The only wine offered by the Pavie Décesse estate is the fine wine of Pavie Décesse, a full-bodied and well-structured wine, rich and powerful, concentrated and intense, with aromas of blueberry, cherry and blackcurrant, and a mineral touch. In the 2003 vintage, notes of chocolate and liquorice can also be found. Once known as a wine to drink after 5 to 10 years, Gérard Perse has managed to turn it into a true great wine for ageing, as since the 1998 vintage, the fine wine of Pavie Décesse can be cellared for between 10 and 30 years. The best vintages acclaimed by international critics are: 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998 and 1990. Overall, Château Pavie Décesse produces a wine in a style close to that of its famous neighbour Château Pavie (Grand Cru Classé A since 2012 alongside Cheval Blanc, Angélus and Ausone) but at a far more affordable price: indeed, both estates belong to Gérard Perse. As such, lovers of great Saint-Émilion wines will be drawn to acquiring a few bottles from the Pavie Décesse estate."
