Ferret estate wines: buy at the best price

A historic estate of the Pouilly Fuissé appellation, founded in 1840, Domaine Ferret is located at the heart of the most renowned climates of the Fuissé amphitheatre in Burgundy. The reputation of Domaine Ferret wines was established long ago, thanks to a precise study of each terroir with the aim of identifying them and being able to vinify them as single-vineyard wines. This method, decided upon by Jeanne Ferret, led to the classification of Domaine Ferret wines into 2 groups: Tête de Cru and Hors Classe. In the same vein, Domaine Ferret wines were bottled at the estate at an early stage, which was not common practice at the time, and her daughter Colette Ferret continued in this direction by placing emphasis on barrel ageing. In 2008, the Louis Jadot house acquired this 18-hectare property.

It was in 2008 that the renowned Maison Louis Jadot acquired this magnificent estate, entrusting its management to Audrey Braccini, an expert and talented winemaker. Of the 18 hectares of vineyard at Domaine Ferret, 13 hectares are located directly within the amphitheatre of Fuissé and 4 hectares are situated around the Roche de Vergisson. Domaine Ferret therefore offers a range of very high quality wines, with a significant proportion of old, low-yield vines. The estate's wine range is structured around 3 types of labels: the simple and generic cuvées of Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Fuissé Autour de la Roche, Macon Fuissé, Macon Solutré and St Véran. Then 3 cuvées of Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru: Clos des Prouges, les Clos and les Perrières. Finally, 2 cuvées of Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé Hors Classe: Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ménétrières and Pouilly-Fuissé Tournant de Pouilly. The wines are generous and powerful, benefiting from a superb minerality drawn from the diversity of Fuissé's soils. These great Chardonnay wines offer notes of well-ripened white fruits, a richness on the palate enveloped by an elegant oakiness, complemented by subtle hints of toasted almonds. The wines of Domaine Ferret shine a spotlight on the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation and today rank among the finest white Burgundies; and in this year 2020, which sees the birth of the INAO's official classification of the Premiers Crus of Pouilly-Fuissé, one can only praise the visionary spirit of Domaine Ferret, which will have been one of the pioneering estates in the classification of the finest terroirs of the AOC Pouilly-Fuissé.
