The Domaine d'Auvenay Meursault 1er Cru Les Gouttes d'Or 2003 embodies the minerality of Meursault's soils. This barrel-aged Chardonnay offers aromas of hazelnut and white flowers, a velvety palate and precise acidity. Perfect for ageing, it pairs beautifully with noble fish or aged cheeses.
Nestled in the heart of Burgundy, this exceptional estate embodies the alliance of a demanding winemaking heritage and an uncompromising organic philosophy.
- Terroir: Limestone and marl soils of Saint-Romain and Meursault, where the Chardonnays draw their chalky minerality and rare elegance.
- Vinification: Ultra-controlled yields, barrel ageing for a pure expression of the terroir, without artifice.
Tasting notes for Domaine d'Auvenay Meursault 1er Cru Les Gouttes d'Or 2003
To the eye – Golden robe with pale highlights, of a silky limpidity, betraying a maturity patinated by time.
On the nose – Aromas of roasted hazelnut, acacia blossom and fresh butter, followed by a saline touch and a hint of flint, like an echo of the limestone soils of the climat.
On the palate – Unctuous yet taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, before a long, saline finish where candied fruits and soft spices intertwine.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2003
A vintage marked by early heat, where the ripeness of the grapes preserved a remarkable tension, offering a rare balance between richness and freshness.
- Ageing potential: To be kept for another 5 to 10 years in a cool, humid cellar, away from vibrations.
