- Terroir: Gravelly and clay-limestone soils of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, conferring structure and minerality to the wines.
- Vinification: A precise blend of noble grape varieties, patiently aged to reveal subtle complexity and long ageing potential.
Tasting notes for Château Calon-Ségur 1969
To the eye: Tawny red robe with garnet reflections, of a silky and deep texture, betraying more than half a century of evolution.
On the nose: Aromas of cedar, blond tobacco, candied blackberry and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of liquorice.
On the palate: A velvety attack, tannins melded into a dense and precise texture, carried by a lively acidity and a long, persistent mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its complexity.
