Wine 1969

The 1969 vintage was difficult for Bordeaux wines, and could have been a very good vintage had the September rains not spoiled the harvest. The 1969 red Bordeaux are rather lean, and the white Bordeaux wines suffer from excess acidity. In 1969, Sauternes produced a few decent wines. Burgundy delivered a very good 1969 vintage, with classic, solid and full-bodied red Burgundy wines with great aging potential, as did the Chablis sector in white wines, which particularly excelled in this 1969 vintage (exceptional at Jean François Raveneau). Very good wines in the Rhône Valley, where Côte Rôtie and Hermitage are savory and beautifully balanced. Excellent 1969 sweet white wines in the Loire wines.

Our tips for buying a 1969 wine

Want to buy a bottle from the 1969 vintage but not sure which wine to choose? Red or white Burgundy wines, especially those from Chablis, and red wines from the Rhône Valley (Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage and Cornas) are worth considering. A 1969 Sauternes or sweet Loire wine may also be a good choice.
