Tasting notes for the wine Château Calon-Ségur 1988 Impériale
To the eye – A deep ruby robe with garnet highlights, of a silky density, betraying accomplished maturity and a velvety texture.
On the nose – First aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by notes of cedar, blond tobacco and a touch of graphite, all heightened by a subtle iodized saltiness.
On the palate – A broad and fleshy attack, carried by a lively acidity and a tannic framework still present but well integrated, giving way to a long and mineral finish where gentle spices and nuances of aged leather intermingle.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
