What is the difference between a Gevrey-Chambertin village and a Grand Cru from Domaine Dugat-Py?

Domaine Dugat-Py produces wines at several levels of the Burgundian hierarchy, and the differences are significant. The Gevrey-Chambertin village comes from plots located on the plain or at the foot of the slope; it is more approachable, fruity and supple, ideal for medium-term drinking. The Premiers Crus, sourced from identified named plots on the hillside slopes, offer greater structure and complexity. The Grands Crus — Charmes-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Chambertin — come from the finest classified plots, with exceptional soils, exposures and microclimates. These are the most concentrated, most profound and most long-lived expressions of the art of Domaine Dugat-Py.
