Tasting notes for Château Léoville Las Cases 1976
To the eye – A tiled, deep and slightly evolved robe, hinting at a silky, almost velvety texture.
On the nose – First notes of damp undergrowth and cedar, then deeper aromas of candied prune, roasted cocoa and aged leather, lifted by a saline and mentholated touch.
On the palate – A precise attack, carried by smooth yet still present tannins, a lively acidity that brings tension, and a chalky minerality on the finish, prolonged by hints of liquorice and blonde tobacco.
Serve between 17 and 18 °C, in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
