Tasting notes for Château Léoville Las Cases 1985
On the eye – A garnet robe with tawny highlights, dense and luminous, revealing accomplished maturity and an almost velvety texture.
On the nose – First aromas of candied blackcurrant and blond tobacco, then deeper notes of fresh truffle, aged leather and undergrowth, lifted by a mineral touch of graphite and a hint of menthol.
On the palate – A soft and integrated attack, carried by silky and perfectly blended tannins, a lively acidity and a chalky minerality that stretches into a long and graceful finish, over ripe black fruits and spiced nuances.
Serve at 15–17°C in a Bordeaux glass to reveal its full complexity.
