TASTING REPORT Discover the report from the Oenoschool tasting of February 8, 2016 Meursault, Chassagne Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet... A wonderful overview of these great Burgundy appellations!
Bernard Moreau Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru La Maltroye 2006 The nose is honeyed, with aromas of rancid butter and some oxidative notes. The palate is rich and evolved with a slight bitterness on the finish. A wine that is a touch too rich and too evolved.
Niellon Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Clos Saint Jean 2013 A nose of white fruits, citrus, toasted (reduction). The palate is superb in length, and the white fruits are supported by a beautiful acid structure of citrus.
Henri Germain Meursault Charmes 2006 The nose is expressive, with notes of butter and exotic fruits. The palate is full and rich, but not too evolved, the oak still present. This wine is very typical of the vintage, a beautiful rich and powerful cru with an American Chardonnay profile.
Pierre Morey Meursault Les Tessons 2007 The color is evolved and the nose has notes of candied citrus and greengage plum. The attack on the palate is quite pleasant then very straight with notes of candied citrus, in a fresh and balanced register.
Morey Coffinet Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru La Romanée 2013 A woody and citrus nose. The palate is pretty but somewhat short.
Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet 2010 A slightly evolved color. The palate is full and quite long, in an over-ripe register but supported by beautiful acidity. The whole is disjointed but promising.
Hubert Lamy Puligny Montrachet Les Tremblots Haute Densité 2013. The nose is closed, the palate is on citrus and relatively short. The wine is quite closed and the concentration leaves something to be desired for a cuvée from 30,000 feet/ha of old vines.
Vincent Dancer Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru rouge, la grande Borne 2007. The color is quite dense and not very evolved. The nose is peppery, with raspberry and blackcurrant. The palate is fruity and very pleasant, with marked acidity and a "sweetish" finish… a beautiful wine, but in a somewhat extracted style.
Jean-Marc Boillot Puligny Montrachet 2008. A nose of pastry, white fruits and citrus. The palate is harmonious and pleasant but not very complex.
