The Pignan 1986 blanc from Château Rayas, sourced from the sandy soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, blends Clairette and Grenache into a rare white wine. Notes of white fruits and citrus, elegant minerality, a taut and precise palate. Perfect with shellfish or refined dishes, to be served at 11°C.
A family estate rooted in the sandy soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Rayas has perpetuated a rare winemaking heritage since the 18th century.
- Terroir: poor sandy soils in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC, shaping wines of distinct minerality and elegance.
- Vinification: small-scale, respectful production highlighting the purity of Clairette and Grenache grape varieties for cuvées of remarkable tension.
Tasting notes for Château Rayas Pignan 1986 blanc
In the glass: a golden robe with pale highlights, silky in its clarity and chalky in its density.
On the nose: aromas of white peach and almond blossom intertwine with notes of light honey, before giving way to a saline and mineral touch, evoking the warm pebbles of the Rhône.
On the palate: a smooth yet lively texture, carried by precise acidity and taut minerality, leaving a long, saline finish of crystalline purity.
Serve at 11°C in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
Vintage 1986
A vintage defined by balanced ripeness, where the cool Rhodanian nights preserved the tension and vibrancy of the grape varieties.
- Ageing potential: best kept for another 5 to 10 years under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
