The Henri Bonneau Réserve des Célestins 1981, a fine wine of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, draws its character from the pebbles and clay. Made from Grenache (85%), Mourvèdre and Syrah, aged in large oak casks, it reveals aromas of dark fruits and spices. Its silky, mineral palate pairs beautifully with game through 2030.
A family estate rooted in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where twelve generations of winegrowers have shaped a viticultural heritage of rigor and patience.
- Terroir: Rounded pebbles and clay-limestone soils of the appellation, swept by the mistral, imparting a unique minerality and structure to the wines.
- Vinification: Traditional methods, extended aging in large oak casks and barrels, yielding cuvées of rare depth.
Tasting notes for Henri Bonneau & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Célestins 1981
In the glass: A deep garnet robe with tawny reflections, of silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and black cherry mingle with notes of licorice, black pepper and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of blonde tobacco.
On the palate: A velvety attack, fine and tight tannins, lively acidity and chalky minerality, leading to a persistently long finish where nuances of leather and soft spices unfold.
Serve at 16 °C in a Bordeaux-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.
