M. Chapoutier La Bernardine 1953, a Châteauneuf-du-Pape shaped by its pebble and clay terroirs. Notes of blackberry, liquorice and leather on the nose, a velvety and fresh palate, with silky tannins. Perfect for collectors, it pairs with braised lamb or aged cheeses.
A family house founded in 1808, M. Chapoutier embodies the exacting standards of the Rhône terroir and the boldness of a viticulture that respects the soil.
- Terroir: The sun-soaked rounded pebbles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape sculpt wines with a solar minerality and a fleshy structure.
- Vinification: A biodynamic approach, where time and patience reveal the purity of the grape varieties and the soul of the vintage.
Tasting notes for M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Bernardine 1953
To the eye: A garnet robe with tawny highlights, of silky density, upon which time has laid a velvety patina.
On the nose: First, notes of candied black cherry, ripe fig and blonde tobacco, followed by a hint of aged leather and a saline touch reminiscent of the Mistral winds.
On the palate: A smooth texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and elegant finish where gentle spices and dried fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.
