The Château de Rayne-Vigneau 1988, Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes, originates from the gravelly soils of Bommes. A blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, aged in barrels, it reveals aromas of honey and citrus. Its silky, lively palate pairs perfectly with blue cheeses or desserts.
A historic estate rooted in the gravelly slopes of Bommes, where the art of blending has been passed down since the 17th century.
- Terroir: 80 hectares of gravelly and clay soils in the Sauternes appellation, where morning mist encourages noble rot, conferring a unique aromatic richness to the wines.
- Vinification: Meticulous barrel aging (40 to 50% new oak), combining tradition and precision for dessert wine cuvées of timeless elegance.
Tasting notes for Château de Rayne-Vigneau Rayne Vigneau 1988
To the eye – A golden robe with amber highlights, dense and luminous, betraying a silky texture and accomplished maturity.
On the nose – A generous bouquet where candied mango, acacia honey, vineyard peach and a saline touch of orange zest mingle, carried by a chalky minerality.
On the palate – Rich and velvety, the wine unfolds with a lively acidity balancing its sweetness through mineral tension; the long, persistent finish leaves an impression of dried fruits and gentle spices.
