Deeply committed to vineyard work, Olivier Humbrecht, the first French person to hold the title of Master of Wine, is a fervent advocate of biodynamic viticulture (organic certification in 1998 and biodynamic certification in 2002). This family estate from Alsace, founded in 1959, was born from the union of two estates: Domaine Humbrecht in Gueberschwihr and Domaine Zind in Wintzenheim. The Domaine Zind Humbrecht vineyard spans 40 hectares spread across the great terroirs of Alsace, such as Rangen (Thann), Goldert (Gueberschwihr), Hengst (Wintzenheim) and Brand (Turckheim).

Most of the vineyard work is done manually. Fermentation is slow and the wines are aged for at least 6 months on lees. Bottling takes place between 12 and 24 months after harvest. Domaine Zind Humbrecht produces approximately 180,000 bottles per year. Olivier Humbrecht crafts magnificent wines in vintages such as 2008 and 2010 that require a few years to soften and reveal their full grandeur. He has avoided the pitfall of falling into a race for sweetness by preserving beautiful freshness. He has thus elevated this family estate to the level of the highest quality in the world despite the large size of his operation.
