the 1967 vintage was a great year in Sauternes for some properties (exceptional vintage in sweet wines such as in 1967 Yquem and 1967 Suduiraut, which are Sauternes of very long aging). The 1967 vintage, on the other hand, is of low quality in red wine in Bordeaux, but however correct for red wines made from Merlot (great wines of Pomerol and Saint Emilion grand cru) because a certain lack of maturity of the Cabernet Sauvignon for the classified growths of Haut Medoc. The Burgundy wines of the 1967 vintage are quite light and mostly passed over, plus of uneven quality, but it was a good vintage for the whites and especially the 1967 Corton Charlemagne. The Rhone valley vineyard produced good wines from the 1967 vintage, especially in the 1967 Hermitage. The year 1967 does not exist in yellow Jura wine (as in 1984) and some 1967 Loire wines in Coteaux du Layon can still give pleasure.
Our advice for the purchase of a bottle of the 1967 vintage will focus on a classified growth from Sauternes (exceptional 1967 vintage which can still age), and in red Bordeaux wine to a Pomerol or a St St Emilion (Merlot). A white Burgundy like a 1967 Corton Charlemagne and for the Rhone Valley a 1967 Hermitage or even a 1967 Chateauneuf du Pape. A 1967 Coteaux du Layon can still seduce for a few years.
