Beaux Freres wines, in Oregon in the United States: a pinnacle of quality on exceptional terroir
The Beaux Frères estate is established on the west coast of the United States, in the Willamette Valley located in the state of Oregon. The Beaux Freres estate was created in 1986 by Michael Etzel and Robert Parker, his famous brother-in-law, who were both partners on this occasion. Now taken over by the Henriot group (Champagne),...
...the shares held by Robert Parker were bought back in 2017 by Maisons et Domaines Henriot, but Michael Etzel remains at the estate as President, and his son Mike Junior has now joined him as co-cellar master. From Burgundy to Oregon, it can be said that a new page in the history of Pinot Noir is being written for this Oregon estate in the Willamette Valley, on the famous hillsides of the superb Ribbon Ridge terroir, whose quality of Pinot Noir production is specifically renowned; and it must be admitted that the terroir here is quite exceptional. Moreover, it is well known that Robert Parker seeks and appreciates wine excellence, and he could only be satisfied with producing the best possible wine. From the establishment of Domaine Beaux Frères, a philosophy has prevailed: minimal intervention and prioritizing cultivation in harmony with the soils to produce authentic wines. The vines are cultivated in biodynamics. The Beaux Frères estate vineyard has a surface area of approximately 10 hectares, with Pinot Noir planting beginning in 1988; with vines now exceeding 30 years of age, the quality of production continues to improve. A second parcel north of the vineyard, named Upper Terrace, is more recent, as it was planted (still in Pinot Noir) for the first time in 2000. Domaine Beaux Frères produces one of the greatest wines in the world according to Wine Spectator, which regularly ranks it between 90 and 97 points and elected its Pinot Noir - Ribbon Ridge - The Beaux Frères Vineyard 2014 cuvée as the 3rd best wine in its worldwide Top 100 2016/2017, with a score of 95. In Oregon, the 2014 vintage is recognized as the best... and Domaine Beaux Frères has produced exceptional cuvées from it. The Beaux-Frères Vineyard 2009 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley presents an ultimately rather Burgundian and seductive nose, with beautiful complexity and depth, with notes of red berries, sweet spices, all enhanced by a floral and vegetal side of dried tea leaves. The palate offers a velvety texture and great finesse, with beautiful balance and appreciable length. This wine has none of the rather flashy standards often found in some American wineries. In summary, a beautiful and seductive Pinot. To discover for lovers of Burgundian-style wines.
