The Domaine de Villeneuve, located in Orange in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of southern Rhône, is managed by the Wallut family, who took over the estate in 1993 to establish it as a biodynamic benchmark. Spanning 8 hectares of rolled pebble soils, this domain shines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The Les Vieilles Vignes 2019 cuvée, a still red wine, blends predominantly Grenache (70%) with Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault, vinified in concrete vats and aged in large oak foudres to retain its intensity.
On tasting, this wine reveals a dark garnet hue and a deep nose of black cherry, thyme, and pepper, with a hint of leather. On the palate, it delivers a fleshy texture, velvety tannins, and a warm finish, marked by notes of plum and garrigue.
