Château Climens 2005, a jewel of Barsac, is a sweet wine born on clay-limestone soils. This vintage, marked by noble rot, offers notes of candied fruits and honey, with a velvety texture. Made from Sémillon and aged in barrels, it pairs with foie gras or desserts through 2050.
Nestled in the heart of Barsac, this family estate has embodied the excellence of great sweet wines from Bordeaux for generations.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone and gravelly soils of the Barsac appellation, where the Ciron and the Garonne create a morning mist conducive to noble rot.
- Vinification: Small-batch production, meticulous aging in French oak barrels, for cuvées of rare purity and elegance.
Tasting notes for Château Climens Climens 2005
In the glass – A golden robe with amber highlights, of a silky and luminous density, like liquid honey capturing the light.
On the nose – First, fresh notes of white peach and candied apricot, then deeper aromas of roasted pineapple, citrus marmalade and acacia honey, lifted by a saline and mineral, almost chalky touch.
On the palate – A rich and velvety texture, carried by a lively and precise acidity that balances the sweetness with remarkable tension; the minerality persists on a long and elegant finish, leaving an impression of purity and freshness.
Serve between 8 and 10°C in a white wine glass of the Bordeaux type, to release the full aromatic complexity.
2005 Vintage
A sun-drenched vintage, where summer heat and autumn rains forged a perfect balance between richness and freshness.
- Aging potential: To be savored through 2050, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C), away from light and vibrations.
