From the Saint-Estèphe appellation, the Château Montrose 1975 (Deuxième Cru Classé) reveals a terroir of gravel and clay. Its aromas of tobacco and red fruits, aged in barrels, balance on the palate with a mineral freshness and precise tannins. To be enjoyed with game or lamb.
Château Montrose A pillar of Saint-Estèphe, this family estate has embodied the excellence of the great wines of Bordeaux since 1855. - Terroir: Gravel, sands and clays from the left bank, shaping wines of mineral structure and timeless elegance. - Vinification: Rigorous tradition, aged in French oak barrels for a pure and precise expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting notes for the wine Château Montrose 1975 To the eye: Deep mahogany robe with tawny reflections, of a velvety and slightly matte texture. On the nose: Aromas of blonde tobacco, damp undergrowth, candied black cherry and soft spices, lifted by a saline and chalky touch. On the palate: Silky attack, melted yet present tannins, lively and mineral acidity, long and fresh finish with notes of liquorice and tea leaf. Serving temperature: 16–18°C – Bordeaux glass to release its complex aromas.
Vintage 1975 A pivotal vintage, combining ripeness and tension, emblematic of the decade for its balance and its ability to stand the test of time. - Aging potential: To drink now or to keep until 2030, in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
