Domaine Combier: indulgent and aromatic Crozes-Hermitage
Domaine Laurent Combier wines: buy at the best price
The history of Domaine Laurent Combier, located in Pont de l'Isère in the Drôme and now covering some 30 ha, dates back to the 1950s, when the Combier estate lived primarily from the cultivation of peaches and apricots. Maurice Combier decided to farm a few parcels of Syrah, and when he took the reins in the early 1960s, Domaine Combier sold all of its wine production to local workers in the Rhône Valley, and then to the cooperative cellar in Tain l'Hermitage. His son Laurent, more drawn to viticulture, joined him at Domaine Combier at the end of the 1980s, and convinced of the great potential of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, urged his father to expand the estate. A cellar was built and the first vintages from Domaine Combier were 1990 and 1991 (legendary in the Rhône Valley). Today, Julien Combier (Laurent's son) has been supporting him at Domaine Combier since 2014. Domaine Laurent Combier has been organic since the 1970s, and the magnificent Syrahs are consistently impressive and wonderfully refined.
