Bonneau du Martray

A mythical estate of the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy

Wines from Domaine Bonneau du Martray: buy at the best price

Located in Pernand Vergelesses, Domaine Bonneau du Martray is a flagship 11 ha single-block estate within the Corton and Corton Charlemagne appellation. Property of the Jean Charles Le Bault de la Morinière family since 1835, Domaine Bonneau du Martray has belonged since 2017 to Stanley Kroenke (already owner of the famous Californian estate Screaming Eagle). Domaine Bonneau du Martray has long been able to produce very great wines, acclaimed by critics. This highly reputed estate offers only 2 wines, and by no means minor ones — 2 Grands Crus from the Côte de Beaune: the Corton Grand Cru in red over 1.5 ha and the Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru in white (over 9.5 ha).

Bonneau Du Martray Corton Charlemagne 1999

€396.00 inc-VAT per bottle
€330.00 ex-VAT

The large Corton Charlemagne plot is predominantly oriented towards Pernand (a more temperate sector due to its exposure), which gives it, in cooler vintages, a more delicate profile than other south-facing Corton Charlemagne plots. All the estate's plots (15 white and 2 red) are located in the communes of Aloxe Corton and Pernand Vergelesses. The Corton Grand Cru wine displays floral aromas and tannins of rare subtlety for such a cru; its mouthfeel is delicate and delicious, while this Fine Wine from Burgundy is destined to age for 10 years and beyond. In white, the Corton Charlemagne from Domaine Bonneau du Martray delivers, in recent vintages, a pure and expressive approach of ripe citrus fruits, along with an interesting salinity that extends over a beautiful length. The 2015 is sumptuous and should yield a very fine wine in 10 years. The great vintages of Corton Charlemagne age with harmony, as demonstrated by the 1992 and 1986, which are immense and intense wines to be recommended to any discerning taster. Bottle prices remain reasonable given the outstanding quality of the wines. Long live Domaine Bonneau du Martray.
