After around ten years spent travelling through the vineyards of the New World (New Zealand and Chile), Nicolas Grosbois took over this family estate in the Loire Valley in 2008. Located on the upper slopes of Chinon, Domaine Grosbois covers 12 hectares of vines planted with Cabernet Franc, spread across 13 different plots. The vines rest on clay-limestone or clay-siliceous soils. Harvesting is done by hand and the wines are aged in tanks. Certified biodynamic since 2009, Domaine Grosbois produces approximately 40,000 bottles per year. Among its cuvées, the Chinon Gabare cuvée, perfect to drink from 1 year onwards, offers an aromatic palate of red fruits and a beautiful lingering finish. With a beautiful ruby colour and a fresh, fruity nose, the Chinon La Cuisine de ma mère cuvée offers a supple and tender palate of red fruits such as blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry. This wine is best enjoyed within 3 to 4 years. Other cuvées such as the Vieilles Vignes and the Clos du Noyer are among the estate's finest. These are wines of remarkable structure with fruit of great intensity.
