All wines from Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru in Burgundy
Mazoyères-Chambertin is a Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits, located in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy, dedicated exclusively to red wines made from Pinot Noir. Covering approximately 18.58 hectares, it shares its production area with Charmes-Chambertin, but only 1.82 to 2.89 hectares are generally claimed under the Mazoyères-Chambertin appellation. Since 1936, INAO authorization has allowed producers to use the better-known Charmes-Chambertin label, making Mazoyères bottles rare and sought after. The terroir, at 240-280 meters altitude on an east-facing hillside, sits on clay-limestone soil rich in limestone gravels, marls, and silts from the Combe Grisard, ensuring optimal drainage and ideal grape ripening. Mazoyères-Chambertin wines are distinguished by their elegance and power, with complex aromas of red fruits (cherry), black fruits (blackberry), licorice, sweet spices, violet, and mineral or truffle notes after aging. Their silky tannic structure, balanced acidity, and depth offer aging potential of 15 to 30 years in great vintages.
