The TOP winemakers of Burgundy

Patrick Landanger has been at the helm of the Pousse d'Or estate since 1997, and he does everything in his power to achieve the purest expression of the superb terroirs at his disposal. The Pousse d'Or estate tends its vines using biodynamics, and the vinification of the various cuvées is long and gentle, accompanied by aging on the lees, to achieve a better balance between finesse and richness. The aging process lasts at least 18 months in barrels renewed at 30% new oak. Rigour and quality standards are the watchwords applied at the estate, which stands out for an extensive range of 5 Grand Crus: Bonnes Mares, Clos de la Roche, Corton Clos du Roi, Corton Bressandes, Chevalier Montrachet; and 11 Premier Crus, including 4 in Chambolle Musigny (Charmes, Amoureuses, Feusselottes, and Les Groseilles) and 3 monopoles in Volnay (Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d'Or, Clos des 60 Ouvrées and Clos d'Audignac), a Pommard 1er Cru Jarollière, as well as 1 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets, 1 Santenay 1er Cru Clos de Tavannes + the final wine, a Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru le Cailleret. A Chambolle Musigny village wine rounds off this superb range. Since taking over the estate, Patrick Landanger has made significant investments both in the vineyards and in the winemaking and aging facilities. He has been joined by his son, Benoît, who has been assisting him with winemaking since 2013. Their quality ambitions are reflected in their deep respect for the terroirs they work. Biodynamic certification has further complemented this choice. A worthy and truly representative example of its appellation, the Volnay 1er Cru Clos des 60 Ouvrées combines finesse and power, presenting itself in an elegant, brilliant robe ranging from ruby to garnet. On the nose, one finds a carefully composed bouquet of red berries and violet in the wine's youth, which will tend towards cooked fruits and spices with age. On the palate, the wine displays breadth and a chiselled power underpinned by well-integrated tannins, depending on the vintage and the age of the wine. The Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi unfolds a majestic aromatic palette of stone fruits and spices, with an enchanting nose of black cherry. The wine offers a deep, broad juice that will, within a few years, meld into an elegant, exquisitely refined structure.
