Based in Savigny les Beaune (4 km north of Beaune) in Burgundy, and owned by the same family since 1834, Domaine Chandon de Briailles currently belongs to Count Aymard de Nicolay and his sister Claude, who have been managing it together since 2001. In 1934, the Count had inherited it from his grandmother, the Countess Chandon de Briailles, related to the famous Champagne house of Moët et Chandon. Its area spans 13.8 hectares located across the communes of Savigny Les Beaune, Pernand Vergelesses and Aloxe Corton.

Domaine Chandon de Briailles produces red Burgundy and white wines in biodynamics since 2008, which prove to be well-structured, generous, without artifice, suitable for aging, and which will therefore gain complexity with aging. Domaine Chandon de Briailles produces mainly Grands crus and Premiers crus including: 1 Aloxe Corton 1st Cru, 4 red Corton Grands Crus + 1 white Corton, 1 Corton Charlemagne, 3 Pernand Vergelesses 1st Crus (including 1 white), 3 Savigny Les Beaune and 1 Volnay 1st Cru Caillerets (whose production stopped in 2009). Vinifications are most traditional: whole grapes, fermentation temperatures not exceeding 30°C, and little or no new oak...

The estate's red wines are lightly colored, but with a very floral and refined expression. Previously rather shy in their youth and revealing themselves with aging, they have in recent years become much more expressive when young, without losing their aging potential. The Corton Clos du Roi 2015 is magnificently elegant, refined, deep and endowed with an ethereal finish. It will age perfectly over the next 10 years. The Pernand Vergelesses 1st Cru Île de Vergelesses 2015 offers splendid bitterness and a complex, floral finish. In its red version, it is a very great Pernand Vergelesses, racy and taut, ripe, tight but not astringent. The Savigny les Beaune 1st Cru les Lavières 2015 presents superb tannins of remarkable delicacy, very ethereal, opulent and refined, almost ready to drink. In 2016, due to frost, the Savigny les Beaune 1st crus and Pernand Vergelesses 1st Crus were downgraded to Villages appellation due to a microscopic yield of 1.5 hl/ha. Wines will therefore be rare for 2016, but you will be able to indulge in particularly successful 2015 vintages.
