...Arnaud Ente quickly made a name for himself by producing wines of a refined style, thanks to rare rigour and precision, with constant attention paid to pruning and harvesting, in order to obtain naturally concentrated and above all balanced berries. The quest of Domaine Arnaud Ente is focused on the pursuit of balance, precision and the aesthetics of the wines. This rising star of Burgundy was even named man of the year 2012 by the celebrated Bettane et Desseauve Guide. Since then, his reputation has only grown and his name circulates among the greatest enthusiasts. The confidential production of his wines makes him one of the most sought-after winemakers in Burgundy, and Arnaud Ente acknowledges that he seeks purity and tension in his wines. And one must indeed concede that the wines, principally sourced from regional plots (Aligoté and Chardonnay) and village level (Meursault, Clos des Ambres and Sève du Clos), are of a density and precision that are truly exceptional. Starting from vines that are not in principle among the finest climats, Arnaud Ente manages each year to give a lesson in style to true lovers of grands vins blancs de Bourgogne.The simple Meursault villages often surpass many Grands Crus in the beauty of their perfume and density of matter. The simple Bourgogne Aligoté reveals a very fine, very pure, fresh and tonic nose. The qualitative level of this wine, sourced from an old vine on Meursault on a very well-drained gravel terroir, and aged partly in demi-muids, is truly inspiring. The Bourgogne blanc (old vine from Meursault and young vine from Puligny), is characterised by freshness, with an already refined yet discreet nose. It has a fine, precise and incisive attack, and a very slender style, with a very pure and tracing finish. The Meursault Clos des Ambres offers a magnificent palate with delicate notes of candied citrus fruits, of great finesse of expression. On the palate, one senses a superb vibration of fruit and great freshness with, once again, a luminous, crystal-clear finish, with perfectly integrated oak. It is a wine created for gastronomy, which asserts itself not through aromatic power but through its texture on the palate. On the Bourgogne rouge side, the Volnay Premier Cru Santenots du Milieu is superb, with a very pretty nose, fruity, floral and spiced. With relief on the palate brought by a partial whole-cluster harvest, it is a very beautiful wine, with perfectly integrated oak, unfolding its silky substance over a very long finish.
