...Arnaud Ente quickly made a name for himself by producing wines of a refined style, thanks to rare rigour and precision, with constant attention paid to pruning and harvesting, in order to obtain naturally concentrated and above all well-balanced grapes. The quest of the Arnaud Ente estate is focused on the pursuit of balance, precision and the aesthetics of its wines. This rising star of Burgundy was even named man of the year 2012 by the renowned Bettane et Desseauve Guide. Since then, his reputation has only continued to grow and his name circulates among the greatest enthusiasts. The confidential production of his wines makes him one of the most sought-after winemakers in Burgundy, and Arnaud Ente readily acknowledges that he seeks purity and tension in his wines. And one must admit that the wines, primarily sourced from regional plots (Aligoté and Chardonnay) and village-level parcels (Meursault, Clos des Ambres and Sève du Clos), are of a truly exceptional density and precision. Starting from vines that do not, in principle, belong to the finest climats, Arnaud Ente manages each year to give a masterclass in style to true lovers of great white Burgundies.The simple Meursault village wines often surpass many Grands Crus in the beauty of their bouquet and the density of their substance. The simple Bourgogne Aligoté reveals itself on a very fine, very pure, fresh and lively nose. The qualitative level of this wine, sourced from an old vine in Meursault on very well-draining gravelly soil and partly aged in demi-muids, is truly inspiring. The Bourgogne Blanc (old vine from Meursault and young vine from Puligny) is characterised by its freshness, with an already refined yet discreet nose. It has a beautiful, precise and incisive attack, and a very slender style, with a very pure and lingering finish. The Meursault Clos des Ambres offers a magnificent palate with delicate notes of candied citrus, of great finesse of expression. On the palate, one senses a superb vibrancy of fruit and great freshness with, once again, a luminous finish of remarkable clarity, with perfectly integrated oak. This is a wine created for gastronomy, which asserts itself not through aromatic power but through its mouthfeel. On the red Burgundy side, the Volnay Premier Cru Santenots du Milieu is superb, with a very lovely nose — fruity, floral and spiced. With a mid-palate relief brought by partial whole-cluster fermentation, this is a very beautiful wine with perfectly integrated oak, unfolding its silky substance over a very long finish. The discerning enthusiast would do well to discover the wines of the Arnaud Ente estate, whose distribution remains always very limited.
