The Buisson Charles estate located in Meursault was founded in 1960 by the Buisson family, and it is now Catherine Buisson (daughter of Michel Buisson) who leads the Buisson estate, alongside her husband Patrick Essa. The next generation is already being prepared here, as Louis Essa, the son of Catherine and Patrick, embarked on his first winemaking with the 2020 vintage, under the attentive yet benevolent eye of his parents.

The TOP winemakers of Burgundy

While the heart of the Buisson estate's vineyard of approximately 8 hectares remains on the terroirs of Meursault and Volnay, the range of wines offered for sale has nonetheless expanded considerably since 2011 through grape purchases from the finest terroirs (Chablis, Corton and Corton Charlemagne, Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet, as well as 2 Grands Crus on the Côte de Nuits in the commune of Gevrey Chambertin), in order to offer an extensive range (close to thirty references) to the clientele of the Buisson Charles estate. All production is now brought together under the Buisson Charles label. The wines have very good ageing potential, thanks to yields that are deliberately kept low, notably due to the considerable age of the vines (up to nearly 90 years). In the Meursault range, the Meursault Vieilles Vignes from 1945 is rich and opulent, with plenty of body and beautiful volume, featuring aromas of almond and well-integrated oak. To be enjoyed within 5 to 7 years. The minerality is more pronounced in the Meursault Tessons cuvée, with delicate aromas of candied lemon and an intense stony sensation on the palate with great salinity on the finish. The Meursault Premiers Crus Charmes, Goutte d'Or and Bouches-Chères are dense, broad and ripe, with beautifully juicy fruit, and can be cellared for 8 to 12 years without concern. They will make wonderful table companions for noble fish and shellfish in sauce. Among the Grand Crus, the Corton Charlemagne offers a captivating nose of white fruit aromas, flowers, with mineral, toasted and spicy notes. The palate is precise, with a superb balance between density, tension, freshness and finesse. The finish is very long and highly salivating. On the side of red Burgundy wines, the Buisson Charles estate currently offers, in addition to its Bourgogne Hautes Coutures which heralds a fine entry-level wine, the following wines: 3 Volnay Premiers Crus (Champans, Fremiets and Santenots), 3 Corton Grands Crus (Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Perrières), a Pommard, a Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru and a Chambertin Grand Cru (from the 2020 vintage onwards). All the reds are praiseworthy, even if great lovers of white wines will sometimes show a preference (probably rooted in history) for the whites of the Buisson Charles estate. It must be acknowledged that it is above all the great white wines that have contributed to establishing the fine reputation of the BUISSON Charles estate.
