Located on the Place du Murger in Meursault, Domaine Albert Grivault is one of the best-kept secrets of the Côte de Beaune. Across just six hectares, this family estate founded in 1877 possesses a unique jewel: the Clos des Perrières, a one-hectare walled monopole at the heart of Meursault's finest premier cru, regularly compared to Montrachet itself. The range, tightly focused around five appellations, also includes a Meursault Les Perrières, a Meursault and a Bourgogne Blanc from the Clos du Murger, as well as a single red wine, the Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc. Moderate ageing in seasoned barrels, pronounced fruit maturity, and impressive ageing potential are the hallmarks of these exceptional wines.

However, Domaine Albert Grivault is above all renowned for its Meursault 1er Cru "Clos des Perrières" which is its emblematic Premier Cru cuvée, consisting of 1 hectare enclosed by walls, operated as a monopole and considered the best climat of the appellation, but also as one of the parcels that gives the most power and nobility to this prestigious appellation. Since Domaine Albert Grivault has historically always operated the famous "Clos des Perrières" from its very beginnings, the wines produced in the Perrières climat could even claim to compete with certain white Burgundy Grands Crus from other appellations, but Meursault had not claimed any climat as Grand Cru at the time of the creation of the AOCs. Some regret this, and probably the 1er Cru Perrières climat would have had its place in such a classification. The wines of Domaine Albert Grivault are above all vinified in a rather pure style, and benefit from all the estate's attention in their production, which places them at the top of the Meursault hierarchy. The other Premier Cru simply called Meursault 1er Cru Perrière is slightly less powerful, but just as characteristic of the wines from Domaine Albert Grivault. A Meursault Clos du Murger cuvée is also produced at the estate, and offers the advantage of being ready for tasting earlier than the 2 Meursault Premiers Crus which will improve over 8 to 15 years. Regarding vintages and generally for white Burgundies, the most renowned are: 1989, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In red Burgundy, the Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc offers floral notes with juicy substance, elegant tannins and a finely peppered finish; it can be kept for at least 10 years. Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic reference producer of quality in Meursault, with classic wines that deserve to wait a few years (from 4 to 7 years) so that the balance between substance and aging reaches its peak.
