The Mythical Burgundies: an exceptional evening where the finest bottles of Burgundy wine come together to form one of the most iconic Oenoschool tastings of the year. Discover Didier Frayssou's report on this tasting from April 18, 2017, and benefit from our impressions of 8 different great wines!

Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er cru Forest 2008 **

The color is pronounced. The nose is honeyed and milky with notes of dried fruits and a slight oxidation. The palate is powerful and massive, with a beautiful acidity. It seems "much younger" than the nose.

Louis Carillon & Fils Puligny Montrachet 1er cru Les Combettes 2005 ****

A barely evolved color with a nose of white fruits, candied citrus, floral notes and toasted bread with a hint of sulfur. On the palate, it is a full-bodied wine with a beautiful acidic structure and very fine persistence. We note, however, a slight bitterness linked to the vintage.

Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne 1986 *****

The color is a deep "old gold." The nose is extremely complex: quince, caramel, bacon, smoke... The palate is powerful yet faithful to the nose. It has a beautiful refreshing acidity, no bitterness or oxidation... A truly beautiful bottle!

Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne 1998 **

The color is evolved and the nose oscillates between notes of rancid butter, mushrooms and white fruits. The palate is not very expressive, though noticeably more pleasant than the nose.

Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er cru Champans 1996 ***

A barely evolved color with an earthy nose of raspberry, developing into floral notes with aeration. On the palate, the wine is fairly pure but remains somewhat austere with marked tannins and acidity (characteristic of the vintage and the estate). The length is remarkable and the wine should reveal itself magnificently after a long decanting or a few more years of aging.

Castagnier Clos de la Roche 2007 ****

A slightly evolved and not very intense color, with a nose of black fruits (Kirsch, blackcurrant). The palate is fruity with a fine balance of acidity and concentration. A wine that already drinks very well today!

Robert Groffier Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2007 ****(*)

The nose is floral, infused, and lightly oaked. The palate is remarkably fresh (dried flowers, raspberry...) with a smooth and almost sweet finish.

Domaine de la Romanée Conti Echezeaux 2000 *****

A hazy and slightly evolved color. A nose of wild strawberry, rose, leather… on the palate, the wine is smooth, both sun-drenched and acidic (notes of macerated small red fruits, blood oranges), all supported by a remarkable length on the palate. Good news! Many wines are available for purchase on Vins et Millésimes! The reference online store for mature wines and old vintages! Bottles always 100% and at the best price!
