Château Margaux 1998
The Château Margaux 1998, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Margaux, is born from the gravelly soils of the Médoc. Aged 21 months in new oak barrels, it marries dark fruits, vanilla and roasted coffee. Its silky and mineral palate reveals elegant tannins. To be enjoyed now or until 2040, it pairs beautifully with game and aged cheeses.
Château Margaux
Nestled in the heart of the Médoc, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence since the 18th century, combining family tradition and unrivalled expertise.
- Terroir : Deep gravels and clay-limestone soils of the Margaux appellation, shaping wines of mineral elegance and rare precision.
- Winemaking : A meticulous blend, aged in new French oak barrels, for cuvées of silky structure and lasting aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes for Château Margaux 1998
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny reflections, of a velvety density, betraying a harmonious maturity and an almost liquid texture.
On the nose – First notes of fresh blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a touch of cedar and blonde tobacco, before opening onto wafts of liquorice and a subtle chalky minerality.
On the palate – A silky attack, carried by vibrant acidity and a tannic framework still present yet melted, giving way to a long and saline finish where sweet spices and candied fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1998
A vintage marked by optimal grape ripeness, delivering a perfect balance between concentration and freshness.
- Ageing potential : To be kept until 2040 under ideal conditions (cool and humid cellar), although already approachable today.
