The Sancerre Les Monts Damnés 2024 from Domaine Pascal Cotat reveals the limestone terroir of Chavignol. Naturally fermented, this Sauvignon Blanc combines minerality, citrus and flint. Structured and elegant, it pairs with seafood or can be cellared for 5 to 10 years.
A family estate rooted in Chavignol, where tradition and respect for the terroir shape wines of rare authenticity.
- Terroir: The limestone hillsides of Sancerre, notably the legendary lieu-dit Les Monts Damnés, offer chalky soils that impart a distinctive minerality to the wines.
- Winemaking: A natural and patient method – indigenous yeasts, ageing in old demi-muids, without fining or filtration, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Pascal Cotat Sancerre Les Monts Damnés 2024
To the eye – A pale yellow robe with green highlights, of silky clarity, heralding a wine that is both precise and vibrant.
On the nose – Aromas of lemon zest and fresh grapefruit intertwine with notes of white flowers and aromatic herbs, underpinned by a saline touch and a flint minerality evoking the limestone soils of the hillside.
On the palate – A texture that is both creamy and taut, where a lively acidity and chalky minerality frame flavours of ripe citrus and poached pip fruits, leading to a long, saline finish of mineral elegance.
Serve at 10–12°C in a white Burgundy-style wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
