Nestled in the heart of Chavignol, this family estate embodies the demands of an exceptional terroir and the transmission of artisanal expertise.
- Terroir: One hectare of vines on the chalky slopes of the Monts Damnés, where limestone and clay shape Sancerres of rare minerality.
- Vinification: Traditional methods, ageing in old oak barrels and bottling without intervention, for a pure expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety.
Tasting notes for Edmond Vatan Sancerre Clos la Néore 2001
To the eye: A golden robe with pale highlights, of crystalline clarity, revealing a silky texture and a promising density.
On the nose: Aromas of candied lemon, white peach, and boxwood intertwine, followed by a saline touch and a chalky minerality, evoking the limestone soils of Chavignol.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity and a persistent salinity, while the finish, long and elegant, reveals notes of flint and dried flowers.
Serve at 10–12°C in a white wine glass of the Bourgogne type to reveal its full complexity.
