Born on the clay-limestone hillsides of Sauternes, Château Rieussec 2018 (Premier Cru Classé) blends Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. This sweet wine offers notes of mango, peach, and honey, a silky palate, and a saline minerality. Ideal through 2055, it pairs beautifully with foie gras or Roquefort.
Nestled at the heart of the Sauternes appellation, this historic estate, classified Premier Cru in 1855, embodies Bordeaux excellence under the aegis of Domaines Barons de Rothschild since 1984.
- Terroir : Gravelly and clay-limestone soils, bathed in the morning mist of the Garonne, which promote noble rot and the aromatic concentration of the grapes.
- Winemaking : Rigorous plot-by-plot selection and barrel aging to preserve the purity of the fruit while crafting a silky texture and a saline minerality.
Tasting Notes for Château Rieussec Rieussec 2018
- To the Eye : A golden robe with green highlights, of crystalline clarity, betraying a luscious density and a mineral tension.
- On the Nose : A generous bouquet where ripe mango, white peach, and candied citrus notes intertwine, lifted by a saline touch and a discreet hint of acacia honey.
- On the Palate : A velvety attack, carried by a lively and precise acidity, unfolding flavors of exotic fruits and a chalky minerality, leading to a long and harmonious finish.
Serve between 8 and 10°C in a Bordeaux-style white wine glass to bring out its aromas.
Vintage 2018
A vintage marked by a rare balance between sweet concentration and bright acidity, the result of a hot, dry summer tempered by cool nights.
- Aging Potential : To be enjoyed now or cellared until 2055 in a temperature-stable cellar (12-14°C) with controlled humidity.
