Château Lalande-Borie, nestled in the esteemed Saint-Julien appellation of the Médoc, is a property purchased in 1970 by Jean-Eugène Borie, a key figure in the Borie family, also owners of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. Spanning 25 hectares of gravelly soils, this estate embodies Bordeaux elegance. The Lalande-Borie 1988 cuvée, a still red wine under the Saint-Julien appellation, blends predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) with Merlot, vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged in barrels to refine its structure.
On tasting, this wine reveals a deep ruby hue, slightly evolved, and a complex nose of blackcurrant, tobacco, and leather, with cedar hints. On the palate, it offers a silky texture, tannins softened by time, and a lingering finish with notes of dark fruit and graphite. Perfect with roast rack of lamb or aged cheese, the Lalande-Borie 1988 captivates with its mature balance and classic charm.
