Château Gruaud Larose
Nestled in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, this historic estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence since 1725, combining family tradition with viticultural rigor.
- Terroir : The gravelly and clay-limestone soils of the Médoc, bathed by the Gironde estuary, lend the wines a mineral structure and a distinctive elegance.
- Vinification : A respectful approach to the fruit, where aging in oak barrels enhances the complexity of the grape varieties without altering their purity.

Tasting notes for Château Gruaud Larose Gruaud Larose 1985
To the eye – A deep ruby robe with tawny highlights, dense and slightly concentrated, betraying accomplished maturity and remarkable concentration.
On the nose – First notes of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a hint of cedar and blond tobacco, before a subtle touch of graphite anchors the bouquet in a chalky minerality.
On the palate – The texture is silky, wrapped in a lively acidity that carries a tannic structure still present yet well-integrated, while a saline and persistent finish reveals the full tension of this great Saint-Julien.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its deepest aromas.
Vintage 1985

- Aging potential : At its peak today, this wine can still be cellared for 5 to 10 years under optimal conditions (cool and humid cellar, away from light).
