In Husseren-les-Châteaux, the highest village on the mythical Alsace Wine Route, a few kilometres south-west of Colmar, Domaine Gérard Schueller is one of the region's greatest natural wine signatures. Founded by Gérard Schueller, it is today run by his son Bruno Schueller (since he was 18), a true "pope of natural wine in Alsace" according to wine lovers and wine merchants the world over. Across 10 hectares of vines farmed using uncertified biodynamics, with no chemical products and no use of sulphites for the majority of the cuvées, Bruno produces some twenty to forty cuvées each vintage, from the great Alsatian grape varieties (Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir) and the Grands Crus Eichberg and Pfersigberg, as well as the prestigious lieux-dits Bildstoecklé, Rebgarten, Stich and Hohrain. Atypical, golden, aromatic wines of great complexity and radical personality.
