Everything about Clos Joliette is extraordinary. This small domaine de less than 2 hectares, located in the natural amphitheatre of Chapelle de Rousse, faces due East to make the most of the morning light, just as the finest estates of the Côte d'Or do. The vines are nearly 90 years old. Its owner practises particularly low yields (approximately 10 hl/ha) with a single grape variety: Petit Manseng. As a result, only 1,000 bottles are produced per year. They are not all released at the same time. They are drip-fed onto the market according to the owner's wishes. In terms of ageing, the wines mature in barrels previously used for several vintages from Château de Fargues (Sauternes) for 3 to 4 years. Do not assume, however, that the estate produces sweet wines. The sugar level varies from year to year, with some vintages yielding dry wines.
