Founded in 1963 by Colette and Gustave Gros, Bernard Gros took over from Gustave upon his death in 1984. Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur is located in Vosne Romanée. There are several other "Gros" estates, all descended from Louis Gros: Anne Gros in particular and Anne Françoise Gros. Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur covers the Grands Crus appellations of Clos Vougeot, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, Richebourg and 6 Premiers Crus: Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Cras, 5 Vosne Romanée 1er Cru (Aux Brûlées, Chaumes, Petits Monts, Aux Reignots, Suchots), 3 Vosne Romanée Village and 1 Nuits Saint Georges.

The TOP winemakers of Burgundy

The estate covers 19 hectares of vines, including 3 hectares of white. Among the grand crus of the Côte de Nuits, the Clos de Vougeot Musigni 2010 has a great deal of aromatic openness and precision in its aromas. The whole is complete, with a particularly velvety tannin. (17.5/20 Battane & Desseauve). The Echezeaux 2012 is a wine with notes of toasted new wood to melt into, very supple, suave, velvety, sensual, and long. Its charm is immediate but will endure over time. The Grands Echezeaux 2012 display great delicacy of texture, extremely complex and long, and are very pleasurable in their youth! The Richebourg 2014 offers a dominant note of violet. The formal construction of this wine is highly accomplished. It combines sensuality and intensity. The Vosne Romanée 1er cru cuvée corresponds to the 2ème red wine of the estate: great finesse and a very assured style, with a dominant of floral aromas, obvious breed and length, and a remarkable mouthfeel. The Vosne Romanée 2014 cuvée has richness, volume, and a fruity finish. Finally, the Hautes Côtes de Nuits 2009 is the most seductive and creamiest wine of its area, as is often the case, delivering immediate pleasure at a gentle price. These wines can be kept for between 7 and 12 years. Here are the best red vintages from Domaine Gros Frères et Sœurs: 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2002. For white Burgundy wines, the estate's first wine is the Hautes Côtes de Nuits cuvée. In 2012, this wine has a discreetly woody and fruity nose (yellow fruits), with a fleshy, honeyed, and generous palate, balanced by a livelier and more taut finish. A keeping potential of 3 to 4 years. Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur has been awarded 3 stars out of 5 in the B&D guide. According to Bettane et Desseauve, the wines have the silky texture befitting their fine terroirs, and age perfectly well.
