This Trousseau 2018 from Domaine des Murmures, grown on the Jura’s limestone soils, is a natural wine with aromas of red fruit and dried flowers. Aged in demi-muids, it has a silky, mineral palate. Ideal for decanting, it pairs beautifully with meats and aged cheeses.
Founded in 2012 by Emmanuel Lançon, this small Jura estate patiently tends a little-known 0.8-hectare plot.
- Terroir: limestone scree soils and red Triassic marls, home to the Jura’s native grape varieties, where Trousseau develops its distinctive minerality.
- Winemaking: native yeasts, extended maceration and aging in old demi-muids, producing natural wines of vibrant purity.
Tasting notes for Domaine des Murmures Trousseau Vieilles Vignes 2018
Appearance – A garnet-red color with silky highlights and a chalky density that already hints at the terroir’s tension.
Nose – Tart red fruits (redcurrant, wild raspberry) intertwine with notes of white pepper, dried flowers and an earthy touch.
Palate – A finely etched opening, supported by fine tannins and lively acidity, unfolds into an intense range of flavors before a persistent, saline finish.
Serve at 15°C in a medium-sized red wine glass to reveal its complexity.
