Initially, the vines were leased, then Lise and Bertrand decided to acquire them in 2011. The couple share responsibilities, with Bertrand in the vineyard and the cellar, while Lise primarily handles the sales and management of the Jousset estate. With the help of 2 employees, Lise and Bertrand have progressively stabilised the vineyard area at around 8 hectares, notably by concentrating the perimeter of their 18 plots planted mainly with chenin, but also chardonnay, grolleau and gamay. The Lise et Bertrand Jousset estate has been certified organic since 2008, eliminating all herbicides and pesticides, as well as fertilisers. The Jousset estate is moving towards biodynamics, and in the cellar, the work is also very natural and minimally interventionist, with parcel-by-parcel vinifications. The reds undergo carbonic maceration, which optimises the freshness and fruitiness of the wines. Ageing is carried out in barrels, but with a very low proportion of new wood (maximum 10%), so as not to mask the natural character of the wines, each of which expresses its own terroir. Lise and Bertrand Jousset produce around ten or so cuvées, reflecting the diversity of their terroirs. Frank, generous and approachable wines of formidable precision, combining freshness and complexity. The Montlouis Premier Rendez-vous cuvée comes from 8 different plots, with clay-flint soils over limestone bedrock. It is vinified in barrels for 10 months. On tasting, one discovers a fruity and juicy wine, vivid and pleasurable. At ease with white meats or goat's cheese. A Premier Rendez-Vous Version Longue cuvée is also available, fuller-bodied thanks to 12 months of ageing, and unfiltered; it will be exquisite with fine noble fish. The Montlouis cuvée Trait d'Union comes from a plot of vines approximately 70 years old, and represents a demi-sec wine containing around 24 grams of residual sugar, made from overripe grapes sorted on the vine. Benefiting from barrel ageing, this mellow wine has beautiful volume and will delightfully accompany foie gras preparations or aged goat's cheeses. The Montlouis Clos aux Renards comes from the oldest old-vine plot (some vines are almost a century old). Here, the 1.5 hectares of this plot are worked using horses, and yields are minuscule (around 20 hl/ha). This cuvée with the allure of a great Loire white destined for the finest gastronomic pairings, exudes fruity and exotic aromas, along with noble floral notes of acacia blossom. The palate is at once fresh, dense and fruity, yet beautifully suave and of very great length. It can be cellared for at least 8 years.
