The 1975 vintage in Burgundy was a difficult year, marked by rainfall and the development of rot that weakened the harvest, particularly the reds. The reds (Pinot Noir) were severely affected: often diluted and compromised in the affected areas, they remain light and uneven, with only rare isolated successes in the Côte de Nuits. The whites (Chardonnay) generally fared better, in a fresh and classical register, from Meursault to Chablis, though without truly shining. The ageing potential is low, and virtually all cuvées are now ready to drink, or even past their peak. Situated between the mediocre 1974 and the sun-drenched 1976, the 1975 remains a minor vintage in Burgundy, best reserved for lovers of curiosities.
