The Alain Graillot estate, based in Pont-de-l’Isère in the northern Rhône Valley, is the legacy of Alain Graillot, a legendary winemaker who shaped the Crozes-Hermitage appellation since 1985. Now managed by his sons, Maxime and Antoine, this domain tends 20 hectares of pebble and clay soils under organic farming. The Crozes-Hermitage 2022 cuvée, a still red wine, is crafted entirely from Syrah, vinified in concrete vats and aged in used barrels for a balance of fruit and structure.
On tasting, this wine reveals an intense ruby hue and an expressive nose of dark fruits, such as blackberry, blended with pepper and violet, with a mineral hint. On the palate, it delivers a fleshy texture, supple tannins, and lively freshness, finishing with notes of blackcurrant and smoky spices.
