The Henri Bonneau Réserve des Célestins 1988, born on the rounded pebbles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is a red wine where candied fruits, spices, and garrigue converge. Made from Grenache, it combines a silky texture with mineral freshness on the palate. Perfect with a leg of lamb or game.
A family estate rooted in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where time sculpts wines of rare depth.
- Terroir: rounded pebbles and red clays of the appellation, a sun-scorched soil that imparts a chalky minerality and a controlled power to the wines.
- Vinification: patient ageing in large oak casks, without artifice, to reveal the purity of the Grenache and the complexity of Mediterranean grape varieties.
Tasting notes for Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Célestins 1988
To the eye: a garnet red robe with tawny highlights, dense and silky.
On the nose: aromas of wild blackberry, candied fig, and blond tobacco intertwine, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of dried thyme.
On the palate: a smooth texture, carried by a lively acidity and a stony minerality, stretching into a long, spiced finish where hints of cocoa and liquorice can be discerned.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.

- Aging potential: another 10 to 15 years for bottles kept away from light and temperature fluctuations, ideally between 12 and 14°C.
