The Château d'Yquem 1941, a treasure of Sauternes, comes from a terroir of clay and gravel, sublimated by Botrytis cinerea. This sweet wine, a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, offers notes of marmalade, walnut and honey, with a silky palate. Ideal with foie gras or apricots.
Nestled in the heart of Sauternes, this legendary estate has embodied viticultural excellence since 1593, combining family heritage and ancestral expertise.
- Terroir: Clay and gravel on the slopes of Sauternes, bathed by the microclimate of the Ciron, cradle of Botrytis cinerea.
- Vinification: Manual tries, aged in new barrels for three years, for a pure and complex expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château d'Yquem 1941
To the eye: A golden robe with amber reflections, of silky density and crystalline brilliance, betraying its venerable age.
On the nose: Aromas of candied orange marmalade intertwine with notes of roasted walnut, gingerbread and a subtle hint of wild honey, lifted by a saline minerality.
On the palate: An unctuous and velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a mineral tension, which extends into a finish of an enchanting length, where candied fruits and soft spices intertwine.
Serve at 10–12°C in a Bordeaux-style white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
