The Château d'Yquem 1954, a fine wine from Sauternes, flourishes on gravel and clay soils. A blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, it offers notes of honey, candied fruit and spices after ageing in new barrels. Its silky and lively palate pairs ideally with a Roquefort or a pear tart.
Guardian of an unrivalled viticultural heritage, this mythical Sauternes estate has embodied the excellence of sweet wines since the 16th century.
- Terroir: Clay and gravel on the hillsides of Sauternes, bathed by the humid microclimate of the Ciron, the cradle of noble rot.
- Vinification: Meticulous manual tries and extended ageing in new barrels, for a pure and complex expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château d'Yquem Yquem 1954
To the eye: Golden robe with amber highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: Acacia honey, candied apricot and bitter orange zest intertwine with notes of roasted hazelnut and caramel, lifted by a saline and mineral touch.
On the palate: Smooth and velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, leading to a finish of enchanting and persistent length.
Serve at 10–12°C in a white Bordeaux-style wine glass, to release its full complexity.
